PLAY BALL! 1955

Webb City Area Genealogical Society

February 28, 2024

As baseball season approaches, we have this photo of the 1955 Webb City Recreation team and their sponsor, Les Ulmer. When these boys were older, they would have been allowed to play the pinball machines at Webb City Recreation, which was mostly a pool hall. It was operated at 110 W. Daugherty St. from 1944 to 1971.

Baseball games in this era were played at Independent Field on North Main Street.

We notice this team did not lack for pitching staff. The photo is stamped June 7, 1955.

Dr. William Wells-Lee was also a sponsor.
