The rush of water over this bridge on West Seventh Street after midnight Sunday night must have been strong to dislodge the asphalt deck.
Raging storm water damages low bridge
The worst of the damage caused by heavy rains after midnight Sunday night in Webb City was at a bridge on West Seventh Street between Chesterfield and Lakeview drives.
Fast flowing water topped the bridge and damaged the asphalt deck. West Seventh Street was closed as public works employees removed the asphalt. It will be replaced with concrete.
The National Weather Service recorded 1.22” of rain between midnight and 1 a.m. and a total of 3.03 inches.
Less than a quarter inch (.20”) was recorded Wednesday morning.
