OBITUARY

Sylvia Klor

Aug. 1, 1956 – Oct. 28, 2025

Sylvia Ann (Lincoln) Klor was born on Aug. 1, 1956, to Roy and Patrica Lincoln.

They welcomed her, their second daughter, while living in Mexico, Mo. Roy would become a salesman of new cars in Fayette to gain GM dealership experience. They established Lincoln Motor Company in Centralia. Sylvia enjoyed music and focused on the French Horn in an award winning band. Title IX created an opening for girls high school sports. Sylvia was among the first young ladies to benefit from the equal opportunity to compete in high school athletic sports. Basketball practice before school showed a strong commitment to her teammates, some staying lifelong friends, and making happy class reunions.

Sylvia enrolled at Ozark Bible (now Christian) College in Joplin in the fall of 1974. Sylvia eventually became the office secretary for the audio/visual department. In the fall of 1976, she was taking pictures of each student as they enrolled for classes. Sylvia asked the junior fellow helping her if he knew anything about a freshman she had photographed. His response; “That’s my roommate, Russell Klor.” A timely birthday card in February 1977, got his full attention beyond friendship status. Sylvia studied hard and finished class requirements for her bachelor’s degree in Christian education plus an associate in sacred literature. She graduated with the class of 1979.

On June 16, 1979, Sylvia and Russell were united in marriage. Four sons blessed this union of 46 ½ years. John Wesley and Melissa, of Pine Knoll Shores, N.C., Captain Benjamin Andrew (Air Force), of Dayton, Ohio, Aaron Lincoln and Nicki, of Colorado Springs, Colo.; Isaac Brittin and Tiffanie, of Webb City; and 14 grandchildren.

Sylvia supported Russell with ministries in Metropolis, Ill.; Christian Homes, Inc, (a former not for profit nursing care organization) and Dalhart, Texas. The family settled in Webb City in 1996.

Sylvia did substitute teaching for area school districts until she earned a bachelor’s degree in education from Missouri Southern State University. She also earned two master’s degrees, from Northwest Missouri State University and Missouri State University. Sylvia was a part of the Joplin School District for over 20 years in the elementary and middle school levels.

Sylvia is survived by her husband, Russell; her mother, Patricia Lincoln; her sister, Susan Lincoln; four sons; three daughters-in-law; 14 grandchildren; three sisters-in-law; plus numerous cousins, nieces and nephews. Her friends were many, a testimony to her caring and loving character. Sylvia “ran the course” before her, she kept the faith and now lives in glory. Praise the Lord (II Timothy 4:7,8)

Memorial services will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday Nov. 8, 2025, at First Christian Church Webb City, with Lynn Ragsdale officiating.

Memorial contributions may be made to Solace House of the Ozarks in care of the mortuary. Arrangements are under the direction of Mason-Woodard Mortuary.
