The public is invited to the observance of American Patriots Day on Saturday, April 19, at the historic Georgia City Bridge in King Jack Park.

The Sons of the American Legion is sponsoring the event in conjunction with the 250th anniversary of the Battle of Lexington and Concord Bridge.

Those battles, on April 19, 1775, known as the “Shot Heard Round the World,” began the Revolutionary War.

Organizer Kavan Stull gave a preview of the historical presentation he will make as part of the observance while he was in period dress during the City Council meeting on Monday night.

His presentation was followed by Mayor Lynn Ragsdale reading a proclamation.

Saturday’s event, at 2 p.m., will be followed by free rides on Streetcar No. 60.
