Bingo is one of the activities that will be going on more often after July 12 at the Webb City Senior Citizens Center.
Senior Citizens centers fully reopen starting July 12
The Webb City Senior Citizens Center will completely reopen the week of July 12.
Area Agency on Aging Region X announced this week that all seven of the senior centers it operates will reopen at the same time.
“After having our soft opening in May and June we feel that we are in a great position to fully open the centers,” said Jennifer Shotwell, CEO of AAA Region X. “Vaccination rates have increased, and cases of COVID-19 have decreased overall.”
All centers will resume their normal activities Monday through Friday with no limitation on capacity. The Agency is adhering to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention’s (CDC) recommendation that vaccinated patrons do not have to wear a mask or socially distance. It will be recommended that unvaccinated individuals continue to wear a mask.
The reopening plan stipulates that a center will be closed without notice should a patron or staff member contract COVID-19.
“We want to keep our staff and patrons as safe as possible,” said Shotwell.
The Webb City Senior Citizens Center invites everyone to a fundraiser Saturday.
It will be a picnic from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. in Memorial Park, which is next to the Senior Center in the 300 block of West Daugherty Street.
The menu includes a hotdog or hamburger with sides, chips and drink for $5. Lawn chairs are recommended.

The Webb City Sentinel isn’t a newspaper – but it used to be, serving Webb City, Missouri, in print from 1879-2020. This “newspaper” seeks to carry on that tradition as a nonprofit corporation.
