They're so kind at Carterville Elementary

Carterville Elementary students focused on being kind during the month of January. They learned they can be kind by: saying nice things to others, smiling, being happy for others, encouraging friends, offering to help, sharing and taking turns, caring about others, listening when others speak and using good manners.

Those selected for Students of the Month are: (BACK) Addie, Paisley, Cason, Layla, Kalli, Matthew, Ryan. (FRONT) Joselynn, Scarlett, Daniella, Kaenan, Olivia, Kennadie and Duck. – Lauren Thompson photo

Broadway Valentine concert at JLT

Be My Broadway Valentine, Joplin Little Theatre’s eighth biennial Valentine concert, will be held Saturday, Feb. 10, at the theatre.

Marilyn Bouldin is directing a large number of singers and dancers, with assistance from Carolyn McGowan.

There will be two shows, at 2:30 and 7:30 p.m.

The concert is a fundraiser for Joplin Little Theatre. Tickets for the unreserved seats are $14. They are available by calling (417) 623-3638 or at the door.

Walk-in blood donors welcome

Red Cross blood donors normally have to register ahead of time, but the need for all blood types is so desperate that walk-ins are now welcome.

As an additional incentive, all donors will receive a $20 Amazon gift card.

The next local blood drive will be from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 15, at the Joplin Public Library.

Appointments are available online.
