The Shape of a Woman, a stainless steel sculpture by Aston Stovern, of Webb City, was dedicated Monday as the newest sculpture in the Joplin Rotary Sculpture Garden.

Stovern and her sculpture were selected in a competitive process by the Soroptimist International of Joplin.

She described the sculpture as a woman – strong but elegant.

Shannon Smith, representing the Soroptimists, said, “The Shape of a Woman symbolizes the strength, resilience and beauty found in every woman. It is a reflection of our shared commitment to empowering women and girls – past, present and future.”

The Joplin Rotary Sculpture Garden is located in Mercy Park, the site of the former St. John’s Regional Medical Center, at 26th Street and Maiden Lane.
