It was announced at the Oronogo Board of Alderman meeting Monday that Sparklight, which was been installing underground conduit for fiber cable for most of 2025, is now hooking up customers.
The first ones to have it installed, like City Clerk Cyndi Jennings, report that its “faster and cheaper.” She said she’s getting 1-gig service for $75 a month.
Interested residents can check the availability in their neighbor on the Sparklight website. Or the local office number is (417) 634-5340.
Also on Monday, the board approved a change order for the storm-damage repair in the amount of $9,105 to replace portions of the metal around the top of City Hall.
Joceline Bogarin and Richard Lopez asked for a variance because their new fence at 2225 N. Greystone Square does not meet code and it’s not built according to the plan that was submitted. One issue cited is that it creates a safety concern because it hampers drivers’ view at that corner. The board did allow them to keep the portion of the fence that shields their child’s bedroom window.
to remove a portion of their new fence because it goes beyond the back half of their house at 2225 N. Greystone Square. However, they were allowed to leave the portion that shields their child’s bedroom window.
Mayor Charles Wilkins and the three board members whose terms are ending have signed up as candidates for reelection and are unopposed.
The board members are Linda Lacey (1st Ward), Jason Grossman (2nd Ward) and Kima Burnett-Francis.
