Speech & debate team primed to compete in MSHSAA districts

Last weekend, the team had more finalists than ever in a regular-season tournament

The Webb City High School speech and debate teammates have wrapped up the last weekend of their regular season with a record number of wins in the Missouri Junior Varsity and Novice State Championship.
Coach Tiffany Bolin says, “This is the largest number of finalists we have had in a regular season tournament.  It has us in great shape as we prepare to compete in MSHSAA Districts this weekend.

Meanwhile, one team member, senior Henry Angér, placed third last weekend in the state finals of the American Legion Oratorical Contest.
He had advanced to the finals by placing first in the semifinal round.
Henry won’t be able to compete in the Legion nationals because the event has been canceled. To make up for it, the scholarship amounts are being increased. Henry will receive a $2,250 scholarship.
Bolin notes the Legion contest is a competition Henry entered independently, “And we are so proud of his accomplishment.”
