It was nice – in the 80s – last Thursday for the jamboree game here as the Webb City Cardinals played the Republic Tigers.
This Thursday, temperatures will be more normal for March (low 50s) as the regular season starts with the Cardinals entertaining Farmington, Ark., at Chuck Barnes Field. The 5 p.m. varsity game will be followed by a JV game.
After an away game Saturday at Logan Rogersville, the Cardinals will be home again Tuesday against the John Hersey team from Illinois. They’ll play another Illinois team, Lakes Community, Thursday at Missouri Southern.
The Webb City girls soccer season starts Tuesday at Carl Junction.
Track and field will start with Webb City’s first meet Thursday, March 27, at McDonald County.
On the same day, the boys tennis season will start here with a dual against Joplin and Carl Junction.
Boys golf will start Monday, March 31, at the Eagle Creek course.
The Webb City Sentinel isn’t a newspaper – but it used to be, serving Webb City, Missouri, in print from 1879-2020. This “newspaper” seeks to carry on that tradition as a nonprofit corporation.
