Blood cells bouncing.

Students learn about the heart while exercising theirs

Shelly Gannaway provides a lesson about the heart to Webster Primary students before setting them loose on the Heart Adventure Challenge Course.

Students at Webster Primary Center recently learned how the heart and circulatory system work while giving their hearts a workout.

By taking the Heart Adventure Challenge Course, they got a better understanding of how their heart works and the difference between a healthy and unhealthy heart. They also learned about heart valves and chambers, on which side of the heart blood cells carry oxygen, what a bypass is – and even a heart attack.

Shelly Gannaway, physical education and health teacher, sets up the course each year in Webster’s gym and encourages the kids to go around it as many times as they can.

Students are encouraged to run the course as often as they can.
