An open house was held Thursday at the new Girlfriends 24-7 Fitness center in downtown Webb City.
Owner Tammy Sprenkle showed off her newest facility, with its yellow weight machines, aerobic machines and tanning bed.
She told visitors that she started Girlfriends in 2012 in Lamar and opened her second facility in Oronogo in 2016. The Lamar facility has been sold, so she still has two.
Tammy’s husband, Rick, got the attention in April when the Sentinel did a story about his renovation of the Parker Building, which formerly housed the Mid-Missouri Bank’s community room.
Cade Higginbotham, manager of Mid-Missouri Bank-Webb City, attended the open house and said he was amazed by the change.
Rick basically gutted the interior, leaving the brick walls bare and the ceiling high.
Tammy specified that only women can join Girlfriends. Members obtain 24-hour access to the facility, and for an additional fee they can also work out at Girlfriends in Oronogo, which is located in the shopping center on the northwest corner of Highway 96 and Route D.
In addition to individual training, Tammy promoted one-on-one coaching, two to three classes per week and “activities to do together.”
