Congratulations to F.C. Shultz, of Webb City, for being one of the Missouri Arts Council’s Featured Artists for February.
He has published books of fiction, poetry and musings on writing. And you can watch him do a reading on his website, fcshultz.com.
It is because of F.C. that the Sentinel started publishing poetry last year. He wrote the call for submissions, came up with the submission guidelines and selects the poems that are published.
Poems are now being published on webbcity.net, Webb City’s ‘newspaper.’
This is copied from the about page on F.C.’s website.
I sold my first short story, about a bully with a magic eight ball, to everydayfiction.com. I am forever grateful.
My first book, about a dragon who attacks a viking village every ten years, was published in 2017 (see all published work here).
I wrote a novella about some kids who find a mysterious box on the beach in the late 50s; it was published in 2018.
The sea-faring, fire-breathing sequel to my first book was published in 2019.
My debut poetry collection was released in 2020. We recorded a video poetry reading to celebrate.
I’m the editor of the poetry section of The Webb City Sentinel, and I’ve had a blast publishing so many wonderful local poets.

The Webb City Sentinel isn’t a newspaper – but it used to be, serving Webb City, Missouri, in print from 1879-2020. This “newspaper” seeks to carry on that tradition as a nonprofit corporation.
