The Webb City tennis season came to a close Tuesday in the semifinals of the Class 2 District 6 tournament.
The 8-9 Cardinals opened the tournament with a 5-0 win over Parkview before losing to Thomas Jefferson 5-0.

The annual Red Bird Invitational was held Saturday in the Buck Miner Swim Center, on the campus of Webb City High School.
Dalton Spence, recognized on senior night, placed second in butterfly with a time of 57.97, and third in breaststroke, coming in at 1:13.04.
Oliver Thompson placed third in the backstroke, with a time of 1:05.30, and he trailed Spence in the butterfly to place fifth.
Nevada won the eight-team event with 226 points. Webb City was sixth with 69.
There are four meets left in the regular season.
