Track and field Cardinals advance to state meet

Webb City athletes will be among those competing Friday and Saturday, May 30-31, in the Class 5 state championships at Jefferson City.

The Webb City girls took third place in the Class 5 district meet Saturday at Nixa. They scored 100.25 points, while Nixa won the meet with 137 points.

Brooke Hedger and Chase Stilley won gold at district. Hedge was first in the 800 (2:15.18) and 1600 (5:07.70) runs. Stilley won the high jump (1.55 m).

Also advancing to state are:

  • 4×800 relay, second place.
  • Emma McKinzie, third, 3200.
  • Brooke Collard, fourth, 3200.
  • Olivia Klotz, fourth, 800.
  • Selah Shewmake, fourth, high jump.
  • Adalyn Maxwell, fourth, discus.

Also contributing district points were:

  • Araceli Perez, fifth, 1600.
  • Jaylee VanBecelaere, fifth, triple jump.
  • Jocelyn Maxwell, sixth, shot put.
  • Kaelyn Maxwell, fifth, discus.

Webb City boys place fifth with 71 points

The boys 4×800 relay (8:16.93) took first place at district.

Cooper White also got first in javelin. And Noah Lankard took second in the 800.

Also contributing district points were:

  • Andrew Dawson, fifth, 3200.
  • Guner Eads, fifth, javelin.
  • Louden Bolinger, fifth, shot put, and 6th discus.
  • Eric Lathan, sixth, shot put.
