Turner, Waggoner to fill role of Tom Reeder when he retires
City Administrator Carl Francis reported to the City Council Monday that two staff members will be promoted to take over the responsibilities of Tom Reeder when he retires in May as director of parks and recreation.
Erin Turner, community development coordinator, has already been promoted to community development director. Her increased duties include working within the parks department to enhance all the festivals and activities to be held in the parks, along with operation and management of the sport program’s concession stands.
Upon Reeder’s retirement, Bryan Waggoner will be promoted to parks director.
Turner and Waggoner will both assume duties of Waggoner’s sporting coordinator position, thus eliminating that position.
In other action during the regular meeting, the council:
• Acknowledged continued increase in receipts from sales taxes and the use tax. The 1-cent sales tax for the general fund has brought in 8.81% more than at the same time last year. Use tax receipts are up 10.26%.
• The intermunicipal agreement regarding ownership, management and financial responsibility for the Center Creek 201 Wastewater Treatment Plant was approved on second reading. The Oronogo Board of Aldermen has also approved the agreement, and the Carterville City Council is expected to do so at its next meeting.
• Accepted the $15,000 bid from Abernathy Roofing to recoat the roof of the commercial kitchen in King Jack Park with silicone. The bid includes a 20-year warranty.
