Using the mail to attract friends to Webb City

Webb City Area Genealogical Society

Postcards became popular during the late 19th and early 20th centuries as a simple and affordable means of communication. Here in Webb City, the local government and businesses used postcards to promote this thriving community.

Compelling and sometimes suggestive slogans caught the public’s attention, such as the postcard pictured above showing all of the pretty girls that lived in Webb City.

This Greetings from Webb City postcard has a miniature foldout showcasing photographs from the area.
This 1912 postcard promised a good time for all, and you just might get what is coming to you.
Very agreeable and pleasing surroundings were advertised on this 1913 postcard.
