Vehicle and stolen items recovered, suspect arrested and charged

Oronogo, Webb City and Jasper County officers worked together July 14 and 15 to solve a burglary and auto theft.

Wayne Adolphsen told authorities on Friday, July 14, that his 2015 Ford F250 pickup and several thousand dollars worth of items, including weapons, had been stolen while he was gone several days from his home on the southwest corner of Highway 96 and County Road 215.

Oronogo Police Chief Steven Weaver commends Sgt. Michael Weston for recalling that he had run a suspicious license plate around the time that the break-in occurred.

Jasper County investigated the case because it occurred outside Oronogo city limits.

Webb City spotted and recovered the stolen vehicle on July 15 on the parking lot at Henkle’s Ace Hardware.

Chief Deputy Derek Walrod says that led to a search warrant nearby at Joshua Paul Turner’s residence at 805 W. 14th St., where many of the stolen items were found.

Turner, 38, was arrested and charged with burglary-second degree, stealing-$750 or more, and tampering with a motor vehicle-first degree.

Death of natural causes at limb yard

Webb City Police were called on Friday, July 21, to the limb yard at the sewage treatment plant where a man had been found dead.

The Jasper County Sheriff’s Department was called in at 5:53 p.m. because the incident occurred outside the city limits.

Chief Deputy Derek Walrod reports that Alfred Mills, 43, of Joplin, was apparently getting in his vehicle after unloading limbs when he died of natural causes. An autopsy is scheduled for Friday, but Walrod says no foul play is suspected.
