Volleyball follows two quad losses with two wins

Webb City didn’t invite slouches to its volleyball quad at the Cardinal Dome Saturday. The Cardinals lost to Grain Valley 3-1 and Bentonville 3-2.

Since then they’ve gotten back to winning. At Carl Junction Monday, the Bulldogs came back to win the first set, but Webb City won the next three sets. On Tuesday, Webb City defeated Parkview 3-0 in the dome.

Up next for the 22-5-1 Cardinals is a home match Thursday, Oct. 10, against Ozark, followed by an away game Tuesday at Neosho.

Addison Brown singles in the fifth inning here Tuesday against Ozark.

4-run fifth isn’t enough to lift Cardinals above Ozark

Trailing 5-0 in the fifth inning Tuesday on their home field, the Cardinals’ bats came to life to score four runs. However, the Tigers went on to win 6-4.

The 21-10 Cardinals have only two more regular-season games before the Class 5 District 7 tournament at Lee’s Summit.

They will be at Neosho Thursday, Oct. 10, and back home Monday to take on Joplin.

The district tournament hadn’t been seeded yet when this article was written. It begins Thursday, Oct. 17.
