Volleyball wins big after opening loss at Carl Junction

Webb City’s volleyball season is off to a quick start this week.

After a four-set opening loss Monday at Carl Junction, the Cardinals went to Clever Tuesday. Then they head off to two triangulars, at Pittsburg Thursday and at Shiloh Springdale on Saturday.

Their first home match will be Thursday, Sept. 10, against Nixa.

At Carl Junction Monday, Webb City bounced back after losing the first set 25-16 to win the second 25-20. However, the Bulldogs took the next two sets 25-19 and 25-23.

Adelyn Maxwell led in kills with 8, followed by Skye Lofland, 7. Jaylee VanBecelaere and Jocelyn Maxwell both had 6, while Kaelyn Maxwell added 4. Avery Pogue had 13 assists.

On Tuesday at Clever, the Cardinals evened their record at 1-1. In straight sets, Webb City won 27-25, 25-22 and 25-19.

Adelyn Maxwell led with 7 kills. VanBecelaere had five. Jocelyn and Kaelynn Maxwell both had 4, while Kami Rabel, Marissa Elbert and Skye Lofland contributed 3 apiece.

Avery Pogue had 13 assists. Chemmy Purcell had 7 digs, along with VanBecelaere’s 4 and Allie Collard’s 3.
