Steve Nelson lies down on the job Wednesday as he replaces components that keep walkers on the historic Georgia City Bridge in King Jack Park from falling into the lake.
Steve Nelson Enterprises was hired by the city this week to replace rotted and broken wood on the historic Georgia City Bridge in King Jack Park.
The bridge is part of the walking trail system in the park but has been closed off because of safety concerns.
It seemed Wednesday that Nelson would be done with the job and the bridge will be open again soon.
A plaque at the north end of the bridge explains its architectural significance and when it originally allowed river crossings for farmers and other residents in the Georgia City area.
Walkers bypass Georgia City Bridge while it’s being repaired.
The Webb City Sentinel isn’t a newspaper – but it used to be, serving Webb City, Missouri, in print from 1879-2020. This “newspaper” seeks to carry on that tradition as a nonprofit corporation.
