District and conference standings will be on the line when the Webb City Cardinals drive to Carthage Friday.
The Cardinals improved their record to 5-2 with a solid win over Willard last week but will be the underdogs. Carthage (6-1) now sits atop the Class 5 District 7 standings after giving Republic (5-2) its second loss, with a late field goal last week.

The Cardinals offense erupted with 21 points in the first quarter and 27 in the second as Webb City took a 48-0 halftime lead. There was no scoring in the third quarter as the turbo clock ran non-stop. But in the fourth quarter, Austin Arft tacked on another touchdown for Webb City, with a 4-yard run.
Senior Mason Williams scored the first touchdown and a total of three of the Cardinals’ eight touchdowns. Two of his touchdowns were in the first quarter.
Senior wide receiver Trae Turner took a handoff from senior quarterback Braden Strickland and ran 29 yards for the second touchdown.
Still in the first quarter, senior defensive back Dawson McMullen recovered a Willard fumbled punt in the end zone to increase the lead to 27-0.
Talan Haslip, a junior running back, opened the second quarter with his longest run of the night, going 64 yards to the end zone.
Sophomore running back Drake Claborn ended the first-half scoring with a 27-yard run.
Junior Brayden McMullen led in tackles, with three unassisted and four total.
