Instead of their hats with plumes, members of the Webb City Cardinal Pride Band donned Mickey Mouse ears as they marched in a parade Tuesday in Disney’s Magic Kingdom at Orlando, Fla.
Three bus carrying 93 students and 31 adults took off for the 22-hour, 1,289-mile spring-break trip at 7 p.m. Friday. Those following in their own vehicles brought the group total to 149.
They rode through the night and checked into their Orlando hotel Saturday evening.
They enjoyed Disney’s Animal Kingdom on Sunday and Disney’s Epcot on Monday.
Tuesday was Magic Kingdom day, from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Band members, including the flag team and Redettes dressed into their uniforms at the park, marched in the parade, and were re-admitted to the Magic Kingdom.
Disney’s Hollywood Studios and Universal Orlando were on the itinerary for Wednesday and Thursday.
The buses are scheduled to start the return trip at 9 p.m. Thursday and be back at Webb City High School after 9 p.m. Friday, depending on if they stop for supper.
The band is allowed to go on a trip every four years. Students have the opportunity to raise money to pay their way.
The band trip group includes 93 students.
The Webb City Sentinel isn’t a newspaper – but it used to be, serving Webb City, Missouri, in print from 1879-2020. This “newspaper” seeks to carry on that tradition as a nonprofit corporation.
