It’s time to get an early look at the Webb City Cardinals as they host the football jamboree at 7 p.m. Friday.
The other three teams are Joplin, Lamar and Seneca.
It gets real for the reigning Class 5 state champion Cardinals on Aug. 26 when they entertain the Nixa Eagles at Cardinal Stadium.
The Webb City Little League 12U All-Stars narrowly lost their chance to be in the Little League World Series this week in Williamsport, Pa.
Representing Missouri in the Midwest Region Tournament near Indianapolis, Ind., the Webb City team breezed through the winners bracket with three wins. But on Friday, Aug. 12, in a rematch with the Davenport, Iowa, team, Webb City fell behind 3-1 before coming back to tie the game in the bottom of the sixth inning.
Davenport pulled ahead 4-3 in the extra seventh inning and is representing the Midwest Region in the World Series.
The Webb City Sentinel isn’t a newspaper – but it used to be, serving Webb City, Missouri, in print from 1879-2020. This “newspaper” seeks to carry on that tradition as a nonprofit corporation.
