Webb City’s volleyball team (11-2) is coming off straight-set home wins against Willard and Carthage as they head to Nixa (17-3) Thursday.
On Saturday, Cardinal Dome will be the scene of the Webb City Quad. Teams besides Webb City will be Carl Junction, Colgan and Grain Valley.
Matches will be the best of five sets. They are loosely scheduled an hour apart, but they will be played continuously so matches could start early or late.The schedule starts at 9 a.m. with Webb City vs. Colgan. Carl Junction then will play Colgan and Grain Valley. Webb City and Grain Valley’s match will end the quad.
The Cardinals made it to the semifinal round of the CJ Classic last Saturday, in which the eventual champion Rogers advanced with scores of 25-22, 25-17. Carl Junction lost to Rogers in the final.
In the Carthage match, Jaeli Rutledge had 14 kills and Aubree Lassiter had 10. Savannah Crane was credited with 29 sets, and Sophia Crane had 28 digs.
After the quad, Webb City will be at Neosho Tuesday and home against Republic on Thursday.
Webb City’s softball Cardinals had a five-game winning streak broken at home Tuesday with a 13-6 loss to Ozark. The visiting Tigers had a 12-1 lead before Webb City mounted a 4-run comeback in the bottom of the fifth.
They won three games last weekend in the University of Central Missouri tournament at Warrensburg: 16-0 vs. Lafayette County; 8-4 vs. Warrensburg, and 8-7 vs. Holden.
The Cardinals (17-8) will be at Branson Thursday, at the Springfield tournament Friday and Saturday, at Wyandotte Monday and at Joplin Tuesday. Their next and last home game will be Thursday, Oct. 5, against Monett.
