Two Webb City JROTC teams won their categories in the recent state competition here, and a third team took second place.
Webb City High School hosted the four-day Missouri State Rifle Championships, which drew 54 rifle teams representing 20 schools.
In the open category for experienced shooters, the Webb City team of Aleena Arias, Katelyn Miller, Johnathan Tatum and Lilly Othick took first place.
The Webb City team of Kayleigh Wilson, Gabriel Boone, Kaden Stone and Thomas Patat won the basic category.
And in the same category for new shooters, the Webb City team of Ryne Nobis, Tyler Greenwood, Arabella Tandy and Alexa Tandy took second place.
Johnathan Tatum won first place in the individual open category, and Aleena Arias took third place.
Ryne Nobis was second in the basic individual category, and Kayleigh Wilson placed third.
As Lt. Col. Dustin Elder summarized, the Webb City rifle team continues to roll this year. He and the cadets will soon be returning to Camp Perry, Ohio, for more national competition.
The Webb City Sentinel isn’t a newspaper – but it used to be, serving Webb City, Missouri, in print from 1879-2020. This “newspaper” seeks to carry on that tradition as a nonprofit corporation.
