Webb City plays Belton Thursday in district final here
Webb City is favored to win the Class 3 District 6 soccer tournament it is hosting.
The No. 1 seeded Cardinals and No. 3 Belton will meet in the district final at 5 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 3, at Cardinal Stadium.
The Cardinals improved their record to 12-11 with a 6-0 opening round win Saturday against Rusking and a 2-0 win Tuesday against Grandview.
Belton (10-9) upset third-seeded Willard 5-2 Tuesday. Willard defeated Carl Junction 2-1 in the opening round.
The district champion will advance to the quarterfinals on Saturday, Nov. 12.
After a bye week, the Webb City football Cardinals will host Republic at 7 p.m. Friday for a Class 5 District 6 semifinal matchup.
Republic defeated Parkview 52-8 in the opening round of districts.
Webb City (6-3) defeated Republic (7-3) here 35-25 in the third week of the season (Sept. 9).
In the other semifinal, top-seeded Carthage, also idle last week, will play Willard. The Willard Tigers won their first game of the season by upsetting Neosho 43-29.
