‘They got him back’

It was reported at the Oronogo Board of Aldermen meeting Monday that police officers recently responded when alerted that a man, who had apparently overdosed on heroin, walked into a local convenience store.

Mayor Charles Wilkins said the officers administered two shots of Narcan.

“They got him back,” said Wilkins. “They basically saved a man’s life.”

Dog rescued from sink hole

Webb City Fire Chief Andrew Roughton reported that members of his department recently rescued a dog stuck on a ledge in a sink hole.

“I am proud of the way they handled the situation and came up with a safe plan. This reflects how their daily training pays off when needed.”

Monday, Aug. 12

15:47 – I was contacted at WCPD in reference to an online theft. The victim reported someone hacked her phone (while at an unknown location), took over her Pay Pal account, and made unauthorized purchases.

Wednesday, Aug. 14

05:01 – Officers were dispatched to 612 Easton Drive in reference to a domestic that just occurred. One male was taken into custody for outstanding warrants, and one female was given a citation for domestic violence.

Friday, Aug. 16

17:03 – Officers responded to White Oak Station, 2587 N. Range Line Road, for a suspicious person. One 30-year-old female was taken into custody for Joplin City warrants.

09:33 – Officers were dispatched to a two-vehicle, minor injury crash, at Hall and Zora streets.

Saturday, Aug. 17

10:38 – Officers were in the 600 block of N. Liberty St. on a separate call when screams and yelling were heard from 617 N. Liberty. The investigation revealed a man and woman were arguing. The man hid in an outbuilding and was arrested on felony Jasper and Dade County warrants.

21:04 – An officer was dispatched to the roundabout in reference to a two-vehicle, non-injury crash.

Sunday, Aug. 18

01:16 – I made a traffic stop near Range Line Road and Kennedy Lane in reference to equipment and traffic violations. One adult female was taken into custody for driving while intoxicated.

08:51 – I was contacted at WCPD in reference to found property at King Jack Park, 555 S. Main St.

10:25 – I stopped a vehicle at Hall Street and Fountain Road for a traffic violation. The driver was subsequently arrested for Webb City warrants.

10:30 – I was dispatched to 740 Jillian Lane for a crash. The victim reported a neighbor from 924 N. East Street backed out of her driveway and struck his trailer causing damage. A 42-year-old woman was located and cited for leaving the scene of an accident.

13:13 – I received a call for service at MacArthur Drive and Jefferson Street in reference to a motor vehicle accident.

14:17 – I was dispatched to 740 Jillian Lane for a disturbance. The victim reported the neighbor from 924 N. East Street returned home and confronted family members about an earlier incident. A 46-year-old male was arrested for peace disturbance.

15:56 – I was dispatched to Walmart for a theft that just occurred. The suspect later identified.

16:23 – I was dispatched to Casey’s, 337 S. Main St., for a stolen vehicle. The suspect was identified.

17:48 – Officers responded to 1013 Linden St. for a report of careless driving.

18:40 – Officers responded to Cardinal Towers, 324 N. Tom St., for a harassment.

19:05 – I was dispatched to Walmart in reference to a past-tense shoplifting. One adult male was charged with shoplifting.

22:16 – Officers responded to 1208 Mineral St. for a report of a prowler. One 37-year-old male was taken into custody for a probation warrant.

Monday, Aug. 19

10:16 – I was contacted by the Newton County Sheriff’s Office in reference to a missing person. The subject was later located and returned to family.

20:07 – An officer was flagged down at Aylor and Main streets in reference to found property. The item was seized and placed into evidence until the owner could be located.

Tuesday, Aug. 20

07:02 – I observed a blue Ford SUV enter the school zone and not slow down. A 32-year-old male was arrested for DWI and child endangerment/

07:48 – An officer initiated a traffic stop near Main Street and Stadium Drive. One 33-year-old male was taken into custody for an outstanding Webb City warrant.

11:25 – I was dispatched to the station in reference to a theft from 1010 S. Madison St.

19:20 – Officers were dispatched to Walmart for a suspicious person. A male was arrested on Jasper County warrants.

21:33 – I was dispatched to 1229 Matthew Circle for an ex-parte violation.

21:40 – An officer stopped a vehicle matching the description of a possible intoxicated driver at Zora Street and Range Line Road. The 60-year-old male driver was not intoxicated but was arrested for driving while revoked.

Wednesday, Aug. 21

07:45 – I stopped a vehicle for speeding in a school zone at Broadway and Washington Street. The driver was arrested for driving while suspended and warrants.

10:24 – I received a call for service in the 600 block of S. Hall St. in reference to a runaway juvenile.

12:53 – I was dispatched to 324 N. Tom St. Apt. 108 for harassment.

14:00 – I was dispatched to 801 W. 12th St. for a stolen trailer. The victim reported someone stole his black, single axle utility trailer with white spoke wheels.

14:06 – I received a call for service at 1836 S. Oronogo St. in reference to a stolen motorcycle.

18:53 – An officer was dispatched to Walmart in reference to a past-tense theft. One adult female was mailed citations for shoplifting.

19:13 – An officer was dispatched to Walmart in reference to a past-tense theft. An adult male was mailed a citation for shoplifting.

Thursday, Aug. 22

06:09 – An officer observed a subject sleeping on a bench in front of 10 S. Main St. A 36-year-old male was taken into custody for active warrants out of Newton County.

14:17 – I received a call for service at 1005 E. Fountain Road in reference to a past-tense theft.

17:10 – Officers were dispatched to Walmart in reference to a trespass in-progress. One 42-year-old female was arrested for multiple charges.

18:15 – Officers were dispatched to Madison and 13th streets in reference to a motor vehicle accident.

Friday, Aug. 23

07:19 – Officers were dispatched to a theft from motor vehicle at 802 S. Jefferson St.

08:24 – Officers were dispatched to 517 N. Pennsylvania St. for a domestic in progress.

10:00 – An officer was dispatched to 1318 Nelson St. in reference to a counterfeit bill that was passed somtime between Aug. 14 and 17.

11:44 – An officer conducted a pedestrian stop near Madison Street and Fountain Road for a pedestrian violation. One 25-year-old male was taken into custody for outstanding warrants.

12:25 – An officer was dispatched to 1903 W. Fifth St. for a report of a dog bite with injuries.

17:59 – Officers were dispatched to Madison and 12th streets in reference to a two-vehicle, non-injury, motor vehicle crash.

19:57 – An officer was dispatched to 502 N. Hall St. in reference to a past-tense theft.

Saturday, Aug. 24

12:40 – An officer located property near the intersection of Fountain and Prairie Flower and placed into evidence.

13:25 – Officers were dispatched to the King Jack Park splash pad in reference to a registered sex offender being within 500 ft. of a public park. A 50-year-old male was taken into custody.

13:49 – An officer was dispatched to Dollar General, 1510 S. Madison St., for a report of past-tense employee theft.
