7Brew traffic control

Drivers weren’t the only ones surprised Saturday morning by the long lines of drivers trying to take advantage of a 7 Brew promotion.

The center lane on South Madison Street was full all the way from 7 Brew south to Fountain Road. At the same time, drivers were trying to enter from the north on Madison Street and the entrance to Walmart.

Police Chief Don Melton says his department was caught off guard by the traffic surge.

“The officers on duty were overwhelmed dealing with traffic congestion because of the promotion,” Melton says.

“We were not made aware of the promotion & will be reaching out to 7 Brew.”

There are reports online about similar traffic problems were at other 7 Brew locations.

Customers received a set of Needoh Squishy toys. Of course, some customers immediately sought to take advantage by reselling the Doh on ebay.

14:52 – Officers were dispatched to the roundabout for a two-vehicle, non-injury, traffic crash.

Friday, Aug. 28

21:02 – An officer was dispatched to the 700 block of N. Roane St. in reference to a runaway. A domestic assault report was taken for documentation purposes.

Sunday, Aug. 30

11:53 – Officers were dispatched to the the Redwood Apartments, 1700 Redwood Drive, for an overdose. A 67-year-old female was taken to the hospital for a 96-hour mental evaluation period.

12:15 – I was dispatched to the station in reference to domestic assault at 2549 S. Hall St.

13:09 – Officers were dispatched to the 1300 block of W. 16th St. for a trespass in progress. A male was taken into custody for stalking in the 1st degree.

16:49 – Officers were dispatched to the roundabout for a motor vehicle crash.

17:44 – Officers were dispatched to Madison and Seventh streets for a motor vehicle crash.

17:45 – I received a call for service at Main Street and MacArthur Drive in reference to a motor vehicle accident.

23:28 – I was dispatched to 1314 Matthew Circle in reference to harassment.

Monday, Aug. 31

09:55 – I was dispatched to Daugherty and College streets for a found phone.

14:00 – I was advised at WCPD of a past-tense incident of alleged child abuse that was believed to have happened in the 1700 block of Redwood Drive.

15:41 – An officer was dispatched to 12th and Madison streets in reference to a two-vehicle crash with reported injuries.

16:47 – I was dispatched to WCPD for a report of fraud that occurred at 520 E. Broadway. Report was taken.

22:59 – An officer conducted a traffic stop at Madison and Crow streets for moving violations. A 23-year-old male was arrested for DWI.

Tuesday, Sept. 1

06:45 – An officer was dispatched to Main Street and MacArthur Drive in reference to a two-vehicle crash with no reported injuries.

10:17 – An officer was dispatched to WCPD in reference to a subject with an active warrant.

10:25 – An officer was requested to call a subject in reference to property that was lost on July 1 at Ocean’s Adventure’s, 201 N. East St.

12:04 – An officer was dispatched to the area the roundabout in reference to a two-vehicle motor vehicle crash, with no injuries reported.

18:04 – Officers were dispatched to a trespass that had just occurred.

18:34 – Officers were dispatched to the 200 block of Par Avenue for a disturbance that had just occurred. A 12-year-old female was transported to the hospital.

22:27 – Officers were dispatched to Range Line Road and Ten Pin Lane in reference to an injury motor vehicle accident.

22:38 – Officers were dispatched to 4493-A Pool Road for suspicious activity.

Wednesday, Sept. 2

08:31 – An officer was dispatched to the 700 block of S. Jefferson St. for an animal complaint. A citation was issued.

10:48 – Officers were dispatched to the 400 block of Carson Way for a harassment service call. A citation was issued.

12:21 – Officers were dispatched to the roundabout for a two-vehicle, non-injury crash.

13:43 – I was dispatched to MacArthur and Powell drives for an abandoned motor vehicle in the roadway, which was towed.

16:10 – An officer was dispatched to arrest a wanted person at Municipal Court.

16:57 – Officers were dispatched to Scooters Coffee, 702 S. Madison St., in reference to a suspicious person. A male, age 44, was arrested.

17:52 – A accident, involving a passenger vehicle and electric motorcycle, at Seventh and Ellis streets was investigated.

22:13 – Officers were dispatched to 130 N. Ball St. for a domestic in progress. A citation was issued for domestic assault.

Thursday, Sept. 3

07:19 – I arrived at Madison and 14th streets for a two-vehicle, non-injury crash.

14:42 – Officers were dispatched to 1229 Crow in reference to property damage.

19:31 – I was dispatched to 1326-A W. 16th St. to check the well-being of two children.

20:39 – An officer was dispatched to 1909 W. Fountain Road to assist the Webb City Fire Department with a subject burning during burn ban.

Friday, Sept. 4

16:02 – I was dispatched to the 1600 block of S. Oronogo St., for a medical unknown.

23:48 – An officer conducted a traffic stop at MacArthur Drive and Centennial Street for a lane violation. A 33-year-old male driver was arrested for driving while intoxicated.

Saturday, Sept. 5

00:44 – An officer conducted a traffic stop at MacArthur Drive and Centennial Street. A 51-year-old male was taken into custody for Jasper County outstanding warrants.

01:59 – An officer made a traffic stop at 714 S. Madison St. in reference to moving violations. One adult male was taken into custody for driving while intoxicated-prior offender and driving while revoked.

21:31 – An officer conducted a traffic stop at Madison and Seventh streets for defective equipment. A 54-year-old male was arrested for driving without a license.

23:23 – An officer conducted a traffic stop at the intersection of Hall and Cottonwood streets. The male driver was taken into custody for driving without a valid license.
