Charges were pending against a Walmart shopper arrested on Wednesday, Sept. 13 for flourishing a weapon.
Officers were dispatched to Walmart for a subject flourishing a weapon, who was located and taken into custody without incident.
Open carry of firearms in Missouri is not specifically prohibited in Missouri – unless done so in an angry or threatening manner, as opposed to self defense.
Police Chief Don Melton confirms the subject was allegedly using the weapon in a threatening manner.
Charges were sent to the Jasper County Prosecutor’s Office.
Tuesday, Sept. 5
I responded to an ex parte violation that was reported at WCPD. It occurred at 1305 W. Austin St. Charges were sent to the prosecuting attorney.
Thursday, Sept. 7
15:50 – I approached a two-vehicle, non-injury traffic crash that had just occurred at Madison Street and Fountain Road.
17:50 – I was dispatched to 1707 Redwood Drive Apt. 16 for a threat to do harm. The subject was cited.
09:02 – I was dispatched to Ware Street and Centennial Drive for a motor vehicle crash.
Friday, Sept. 8
23:20 – I responded to a walk-in at WCPD about damage to property.
Saturday, Sept. 9
01:21 – An officer conducted a car stop at MacArthur Drive and Madison Street. One male was arrested for DWI-prior offender.
13:27 – An officer responded to the roundabout in reference to a two-vehicle, non-injury crash.
14:11 – An officer was dispatched to 4491 Dirt Road in reference to a past-tense burglary.
16:56 – I was dispatched to Zips Car Wash, 1309 S. Madison St. in reference to an assault in progress. A 64-year-old male was issued a citation for assault.
Sunday, Sept. 10
12:40 – Officers were dispatched to North East Street and the railroad for a female that was setting railroad ties on fire. One female was arrested.
16:25 – Officers were dispatched to the 700 block of S. Walker St. for a report of juvenile issues.
23:36 – Officers were dispatched to 813 E. Linden St. in reference to a domestic assault.
Monday, Sept. 11
I stopped a vehicle at 10th and Oronogo streets for a traffic violation. The driver was subsequently arrested for a Jasper County warrant.
01:50 – Officers were dispatched to Sleep Inn and Suites, 221 S. East St., in reference to a bomb threat. A 46-year-old female was arrested for making a false bomb report and making a terrorist threat second degree.
09:49 – I was dispatched to the station in reference to a theft which occurred at 515 N. Devon. The victim reported her roommate stole her rent money.
12:01 – Officers were dispatched to the 1800 block of Blue Jay Drive, reference a possible stolen motor vehicle. The vehicle was located and recovered.
15:13 – I stopped a vehicle for improper vehicle licensing. An altered license plate was seized.
15:19 – An officer was dispatched to Powell and MacArthur drives in reference to a non-injury crash.
17:45 – I was dispatched to Don’s Cold Storage, 2316 S. Hall St., regarding a non-injury vehicle accident on private property between two semi trucks.
19:06 – I took a report regarding potential physical abuse in the 500 block of Fallon Terrace.
Tuesday, Sept. 12
00:32 – I made a traffic stop near Hall Street and Railroad Way in reference to a license violation. One adult male was taken into custody for driving while revoked, failure to comply with a request for information and multiple outstanding warrants.
07:57 – I received a call for service at 324 N. Tom St. in reference to property damage.
11:15 – I was dispatched to Henkle’s Ace Hardware, 1201 S. Madison St., for a theft of property.
15:23 – I stopped a dark grey Chevrolet Silverado pickup with an expired Missouri temporary tag. The driver was found to be revoked and was arrested and transported to the Webb City jail.
16:08 – Dispatch advised units of a possible intoxicated female driver leaving a residence on N. Liberty Street in a brown in color sport utility vehicle. The vehicle was located, stopped and the driver was subsequently arrested for driving while intoxicated.
17:45 – I was dispatched to 1802-11B S. Oronogo St. for theft of property.
22:34 – I was dispatched to 305 S. Hall St. in reference to a found item.
Wednesday, Sept. 13
– I was advised of a past-tense incident involving some alleged inappropriate activity involving an adult and a child. This was alleged to have taken place in the 1500 block S. Ellis St.
– Officers were dispatched to 1212 S Madison for a past-tense theft.
06:00 – Officers were dispatched to WCPD for found property. Items were submitted to evidence.
07:31 – Officers were dispatched to WCPD for a report of found property. Items were placed into evidence.
14:27 – Officers were dispatched to a past-tense theft as 1421 Mineral St.
15:44 – I was dispatched to 25 S. Hall St. for a past-tense theft.
16:35 – I was dispatched to R&S Trailer Sales, 402 S. Jefferson St., in reference to a motor vehicle crash.
16:39 – Officers were dispatched to WCPD for a report of a sexual offense that occurred in the 300 block of W. Galena St. A report submitted to the juvenile office.
17:39 – An officer was dispatched to the roundabout for a two-vehicle, non-injury motor vehicle crash where one vehicle left the scene.
18:27 – I responded to a call in the 1600 block of Jefferson Circle in reference to a runaway juvenile.
22:09 – An officer initiated a traffic stop near the intersection of Madison and First streets. One 39-year-old male was taken into custody and cited for driving while intoxicated, resisting arrest, failure to yield to emergency vehicle, improper lane use, and failure to show proof of valid insurance at the time of stop.
Thursday, Sept. 14
04:20 – Officers responded to Pool Road for a medical with law call. While in the area, lost property was found. The item was collected and placed into evidence. A report was taken. (Police Chief Don Melton explains that EMS personnel sometimes asks police accompany them to a scene where the patient may be combative. Also, police at times will call EMS to a scene requiring medical attention.)
05:57 – An officer was dispatched to the 1600 block of Jefferson Circle in reference to a runaway juvenile.
10:12 – I was dispatched to 623 N. Pennsylvania St. for a past-tense property damage.
11:07 – I was dispatched to 815 W. Seventh St. for a past-tense property damage.
19:09 – An officer was dispatched to 409 N. Roane St. in reference to a theft.
20:31 – Officers were dispatched to Walmart in reference to a theft in progress. One 28-year-old female was taken into custody for trespassing, stealing, and possession of drug paraphernalia.
22:25 – I responded to a possible intoxicated driver in a Green F150 leaving a bar in Carterville and heading west into Webb City. A 50-year-old male was arrested for DWI.
23:52 – An officer was dispatched to 213 W. Austin St. in reference to a theft.
Friday, Sept. 15
13:16 – I was dispatched to the 500 block of N. Ball St. for a suicidal subject. The subject was taken into custody for a 96-hour-hold.
17:24 – I was dispatched to Walmart for a found property report. The item was entered into evidence.
18:07 – I was dispatched to 314 S. Tom St. regarding a vehicle that had been abandoned in the alleyway.
18:42 – I was dispatched to Cardinal Towers, 324 N. Tom St., regarding a peace disturbance by a female subject.
21:58 – I was dispatched to the intersection of Madison and Crow streets regarding a non-injury motor vehicle accident involving two vehicles.
Saturday, Sept. 16
01:49 – I made a traffic stop near Madison and 13th streets in reference to a license violation. One adult male was taken into custody for driving while suspended, possession of a controlled substance and open container.
08:52 – I was dispatched to 1410 N. Main St. for an abandoned vehicle. I arrived and contacted a tow company, which had been called to remove an abandoned Ford Edge from the parking lot. The vehicle was removed for storage.
16:35 – Officers were dispatched to the 200 block of N. Roane St. in reference to a missing person.
20:30 – I made a traffic stop near Range Line Road and Enterprise Avenue in reference equipment and license violations. One adult male was arrested for possession of drug paraphernalia and one adult female was arrested for possession of drug paraphernalia and outstanding warrants.
The Webb City Sentinel isn’t a newspaper – but it used to be, serving Webb City, Missouri, in print from 1879-2020. This “newspaper” seeks to carry on that tradition as a nonprofit corporation.
