Webb City’s at Carl Junction
on a THURSDAY this week
The Webb City Cardinals are eager to show improvement and notch their first victory after last week’s season-opening home loss to the Nixa Eagles.
This week’s game – on a Thursday night – will kickoff at 7 p.m. at Carl Junction.
In last week’s 42-19 loss, the Cardinals gained more yards (374-29) on the ground than Nixa but only gained 11 yards passing, compared to Nixa’s 142 yards.
Cole Cavitt scored two touchdowns, and Omari Jackson had one touchdown. Twice in the third quarter, the Cardinals got within range but couldn’t score.
Jackson led Webb City’s ground attack with 162 yards on 19 carries. Cavitt ran for 88 yards on 12 carries, while quarterback Landon Johnson had 47 running yards, and Aidan Alberty added 35 yards.
Ramone Green Jr. led Nixa with 231 yards rushing.
William Hayes caught both of Webb City’s completed passes.
Carl Junction won its first game 42-21 at Ozark. Nixa is at home Friday against Neosho.
