When the old high school was demolished

We have some views of when the beloved old Webb City High School was being demolished.

It was located on Broadway at Washington Street. For many years, Route 66 traffic passed by making a 90-degree turn onto Jefferson Street or visa versa.

The first class to graduate was class of 1912, and the last was class of 1972.

It was being torn down in 1974, after serving the students of Webb city for more than 60 years.

Surely, many folks remember watching the old place be reduced to a pile of bricks.

Before that, though, students helped remove the desks and chairs.

READERS: Correct us if we’re wrong about the year the school was demolished.

A pulley is used to lower desks from the upper stories.
