Wish lists to Santa were simpler in 1924

Webb City Area Genealogical Society

Today, we look back to what the town’s children wanted for Christmas in 1924.

We know because the children of Webb City would leave letters for Santa in a mailbox. They would be delivered to him but not before they were printed in the Webb City Sentinel.

As you’d expect, the requests were quite different than they are today. As seen below, the top asks were for oranges, nuts and candy.

WCAGS members staff the Genealogy Room on the third floor of the Webb City Public Library. Current hours are noon to 4 p.m. weekdays and 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturdays. Meetings are held at 6 p.m. on the first Tuesday of each month in the Genealogy Room.
