Work on city hall required for aerial ladder to fit

Webb City Area Genealogical Society

The Webb City Register, July 12, 1910

Work today was started on the remodeling of the city hall building for the reception of the new aerial ladder and fire automobile.

The building now occupied by the fire department will be used for the automobile and the room just north will be used for the aerial ladder. An arch similar to the one over the present fire department will be put in, a new floor and other necessary alterations to accommodate the ladder, an archway cut between the two rooms connecting them.

When the new fire auto was granted to Webb City, it was the intent of the West End citizens to take the fire team and wagon and install it at the West End station, but this move has been given up.

This picture of the Webb City Fire Deapartment's first fire automobile was taken in 1910.
