Webb City seniors Trevor Peterson and Zach Stump were among the state’s top high school graduates honored Sunday during the annual Missouri Scholars 100 event at Columbia.
For nearly three decades, the Missouri Association of Secondary School Principals has recognized the extraordinary achievements of Missouri’s top-tier seniors.
Clark Mershon, executive director MoASSP says, “The Missouri Scholars 100 Program stands as a beacon of academic distinction. These exceptional seniors have not merely excelled; they have soared. They embody the pinnacle of academic achievement, a testament to the dedication of both students and their schools.”
Peterson and Stump will also be recognized as Missouri Scholars 100 during Academic Awards Night at 6 p.m. Monday, May 6, at the Ronald R. Barton Performing Arts Center.
Commencement for nearly 300 Webb City High School seniors will be at 7 p.m. Friday, May 17, at Cardinal Stadium.
Webb City High School has been informed that three of its sophomores, Rylan Davis, Caitlin Norton and Carter Slinker, have been selected to attend the Missouri Scholars Academy. The top 330 sophomores in the state have been selected to attend the prestigious learning event in June at the University of Missouri in Columbia.
Stacy Stockton, gifted and honor programs instructor, says she is especially pleased because WCHS is normally limited to send two students to the academy.
It’s also been announced that sophomore Sadie Dodson has been selected to attend the Missouri Fine Arts Academy. Around a hundred student-artists from across the state have been selected to attend the academy in June in Springfield at Missouri State University.
The Webb City Sentinel isn’t a newspaper – but it used to be, serving Webb City, Missouri, in print from 1879-2020. This “newspaper” seeks to carry on that tradition as a nonprofit corporation.
