Webb City High School senior Zach Stump has been named a Commended Student in the 2024 National Merit Scholarship Program.
Principal Jeff Wilkie presented him with a Letter of Commendation from the school and National Merit Scholarship Corporation, which conducts the program.
About 34,000 Commended Students throughout the nation are being recognized for their exceptional academic promise. Commended Students placed among the top 50,000 scorers of more that 1.5 million students who entered the competition by taking the 2022 PSAT.
Stump, an honor diploma student, is active in tennis, scholar bowl, science club, esports, and National Honor Society. He participates in several activities at Christ’s Church of Oronogo and College Heights Christian Church and works part-time at Chick-Fil-A. He is interested in aerospace and mechanical engineering as potential college majors. He is the son of Eldon and Lesli Stump.

The Webb City Sentinel isn’t a newspaper – but it used to be, serving Webb City, Missouri, in print from 1879-2020. This “newspaper” seeks to carry on that tradition as a nonprofit corporation.
