Webb City baseball got a 7-1 home win over Ozark Tuesday to rise above .500 going into the last week of the regular season.
The 12-11 Cardinals have won three of their last four games. The have two road games – Neosho Thursday and Marshfield Friday – before closing out with Seneca (Saturday), Pleasant Hill (Monday), Joplin (Tuesday) and Hillcrest (Thursday) at Chuck Barnes Field.
Andrew Young lead off in the first winning against Ozark with a home run. The Cardinals increased their lead to 3-0 in the third inning, added a score in the fourth and finished with a 3-run sixth inning.
Landon Fletcher pitched a complete game. He gave up one run (in the top of the sixth) on six hits, no walks and four strike-outs.
Five Cardinals got two hits each, Andrew Young, Brock Renfro, Mason Young, Luke Beverlin and Brody Eggleston.
At Branson Saturday, Webb City scored three runs in the fifth inning to take a 5-3 lead. The Cardinals added an insurance run in both the sixth and seventh innings, while holding the Pirates to one run in the bottom of the seventh.
Chase Denton, the winning pitcher, relieved Tate Lewis with two outs in the third inning. Austin Miller came in to close in the seventh.
Eggleston had two hits.
Mason Young, on the mound here Thursday, held Parkview scoreless through five innings, while Webb City batters supported him with 11 runs, seven of which were in the third inning.
