The Webb City speech and debate team competed and judged at the Missouri State University/Gloria Deo Tournament the weekend of Oct. 14-15.
“Check out what our competitive talking Cardinals did,” says coach Tiffany Bolin.
Pirate Treasure Hunt was the theme for the recent Title I Parent Involvement Night at Madge T. James Kindergarten Center.
Title I teacher Tracy Metcalf invited families to dress like pirates along with the faculty and staff. Kindergarten students were given a pirate themed tote bag and a treasure map when they checked in for the event. Families followed the maps to find learning “treasurers” around the building and used them to complete learning activities.
The activities coordinated with kindergarten learning objectives such as identifying letter names and sounds and coin recognition and value. Students could practice coding with Kinderbots or make aluminum foil boats and test their engineering skills at a STEM station. Before they left, families were invited to make a photo memory.

The Webb City Sentinel isn’t a newspaper – but it used to be, serving Webb City, Missouri, in print from 1879-2020. This “newspaper” seeks to carry on that tradition as a nonprofit corporation.
