Central Ozark Conference volleyball bragging rights will be on the line Thursday in Cardinal Dome as the 10-2-1 Webb City Cardinals take on the 13-3 Nixa Eagles. Nixa’s only conference loss was against 15-5 Ozark, which will entertain the Cardinals, unbeaten in conference play so far, on Oct. 11.
At the Carl Junction tournament Saturday, The Cardinals won 14 sets without a loss in pool play and in the championship game against Carl Junction.
They also won in straight sets Tuesday at Carthage (25-19, 25-9 and 25-18).
Aubree Lassiter and Brenda Lawrence both had 13 kills, and Jaeli Rutledge added seven.
Kyah Sanborn had 32 sets. Sophia Crane and Kate Brownfield led in digs, with 14 and 10 respectively.
Getting back to winning after a couple of losses will be the goal for Webb City softball Thursday as the Cardinals host the 9-11 Branson Pirates at 4:30 p.m. Thursday.
The Cardinals (12-13) are rebounding from two road losses, 6-3 at Lebanon Monday and 9-0 Tuesday at Ozark.
They went 2-2 Friday and Saturday at the Warrensburg tournament. Their wins, 9-0 against Knob Noster and 15-7 against Putnam County, came after losses to Belton (6-0) and Holden (11-0).
Webb City will be in the Springfield tournament Friday and Saturday and then back home Monday against McDonald County and Tuesday against Joplin.
