Victim kidnapped in Webb City rescued in Coffeyville

On Monday, March 3, 2025, at about 05:10 hours, Webb City officers were dispatched to the area of Elliott and Vine streets after a 911 caller alerted dispatchers to a possible kidnapping. The adult victim reported she was traveling in a truck with the suspect, he would not let her out of the vehicle, and he had a gun. Area agencies were alerted to be on the lookout for the vehicle.

At about 08:30, it was learned that the suspect and victim were in Coffeyville, Kan. Officers from Coffeyville Police Department located the suspect truck, and after a short pursuit, the suspect was stopped and arrested.

The suspect, a 27-year-old male from Jane, Mo., will face charges of kidnapping and violation of a protection order in Missouri. The victim was released from the scene unharmed.

This case is still actively being investigated. Any additional information will be released as appropriate.

Wednesday, Feb. 19

00:12 – Officers received a call for a male subject trespassing at multiple residences and possibly trying to make entry to the residences near Washington and Oronogo streets. One male was taken into custody for resisting arrest, trespassing, and peace disturbance.

Thursday, Feb. 20

17:22 – I conducted a traffic stop at MacArthur Drive and Main Street. One male was arrested for driving while revoked.

Saturday, Feb. 22

01:45 – Officers were dispatched to the intersection of Fountain Road and Redwood Drive for a traffic stop conducted by a Joplin Police Department officer at this location. A 22-year-old male was taken into custody for driving while intoxicated and an active warrant from the Newton County Sheriff’s Office.

Sunday, Feb. 23

00:54 – An officer conducted a traffic stop at Madison and 15th streets for a speeding violation. The 17-year-old male driver was cited for speeding and arrested for DWI- zero tolerance. An 18-year-old male passenger was cited for minor in possession of alcohol.

10:56 – I was dispatched to Cardinal Towers, 324 N. Tom St., No. 203 for a past-tense attempted burglary.

14:28 – A fellow officer informed me that an infant male child with a broken arm was transported to Freeman West Hospital. I responded to the hospital and began an investigation into the child’s injuries.

Monday, Feb. 24

08:58 – An officer was dispatched to the area of MacArthur Drive and College Street in reference to a non-injury crash.

13:59 – An officer conducted a traffic stop near Ninth and Jefferson streets in reference to a traffic violation. One 32-year-old male was taken into custody for outstanding warrants.

15:47 – Officers were dispatched to MacArthur Drive and Oronogo Street in reference to a four-vehicle crash with unknown injuries.

15:57 – I received a call for service at 16th and Madison streets in reference to a non-injury motor vehicle accident.

Tuesday, Feb. 25

07:29 – Police and fire were dispatched to 4550 Half Circle in reference to a vehicle fire. The investigation revealed that the fire was arson in nature.

11:04 – I received a call for service at 1636 S. Madison St. in reference to a leaving-the-scene motor vehicle accident.

12:00 – Officers were dispatched to the 300 block of N. Tom St. in reference to a suicidal subject. One 62-year-old female was transported to an area hospital for a 96-hour mental evaluation.

16:04 – An officer was dispatched to 119 N. Pennsylvania St. in reference to a possible theft that had just occurred. One 27-year-old male will be issued a citation for trespassing.

16:23 – I was dispatched to 1992 Stadium Drive for a vehicle that had been driven into a pond.

19:00 – An officer was dispatched to 701 N. Liberty St. in reference to identity theft. The investigation is ongoing.

19:09 – An officer was dispatched to 701 N. Hall St. in reference to a trespass in progress. A 33-year-old male was taken into custody for active warrants out of our agency.

Wednesday, Feb. 26

00:23 – Officers were dispatched to 519 S. Roane St. in reference to a domestic assault in progress. A 46-year-old male was taken into custody and charged with domestic assault.

10:55 – Officers were dispatched to the 700 block of Jillian Lane reference a possible subject with a warrant and a runaway juvenile.

18:49 – Officers at WCPD took a walk-in report of harassment and issued a citation.

19:58 – Officers responded to 1607 S. Ellis St. Apt 233, where a citation for disturbance was issued.

21:22 – Officers were dispatched to the 500 block of S. Ellis St. for a medical call. A 79-year-old male was not conscious and not breathing. He was pronounced deceased on scene.

Thursday, Feb. 27

10:40 – I was dispatched to the station in reference to the theft of a motor vehicle from 218 N. Madison St.

12:28 – Officers were dispatched to Sleep Inn, 221 S. East St., reference a Trespass in Progress. As a result a 41-year-old female was taken into custody.

18:11 – Officers were dispatched to the 1600 block of S. Ellis St. for a suicidal juvenile that ran away from home. The juvenile later returned home and was taken for medical care by their parent.

18:27 – Officers responded to White Oak Station, 2587 N. Range Line Road, for a theft.

Friday, Feb. 28

07:44 – An officer was dispatched to the roundabout in reference to a non-injury crash.

11:30 – An officer located property in the roadway near Stadium Drive and Main Street and placed into evidence.

21:35 – An officer conducted a traffic stop at Fountain Road and Madison Street for defective equipment. A 40-year-old female was arrested on a warrant and resisting arrest.

Saturday, March 1

09:56 – Officers were dispatched to 924 Megan Lane in reference to a stolen vehicle.

14:47 – Officers were dispatched to Oronogo and Wood streets in reference to a known wanted person observed on foot in the area. An arrest was made on a male juvenile for an outstanding full U.S. extradition felony warrant issued by the Jasper County Sheriff’s Office.
