The Webb City High School debate team is in desperate need for volunteers to judge its home tournament Friday and Saturday.
People who can come for a couple of hours (or more!) and listen to great kids from all over the area perform to the best of their abilities, says activities director Butch Owen. “‘But, I don’t know anything about judging speech and debate’ you might be saying to yourself. That’s the great part, you don’t have to know anything! You are judging the performance itself, not necessarily the content within the performance. You truly don’t have to know much. Trust me, I judge and I know little to nothing.
“Even just a couple of hours on Friday and/or Saturday will be incredibly helpful to our school. These kids work pretty dang hard at what they are doing (just like our band kids), and they rely on this feedback from judges to improve on their performance. Several of our band students are also speech and debate kids, and I know they and their coaches would be super thankful for any time that you might be able to donate.

Inspired by the 417 area code and the communities it represents, Vision Solutions has introduced 417 Eyewear, a new in-house eyeglass collection created to offer style, quality, value – and community giving. For every pair sold, the practice donates $4.17 to nonprofits supporting local families facing food insecurity.
To develop the collection, Vision Solutions partnered with the same manufacturer behind Warby Parker to deliver 30 modern, patient-favorite frame styles without the designer label markup. The frames are paired with high-quality lenses from the practice’s trusted lens partner for comfort, clarity, and everyday durability.
“We wanted to offer the competitive pricing of online retailers while maintaining the personalized service and precise fitting only possible in-office,” said Dr. Erica Burton, practice owner of Vision Solutions. “This combination ensures optimal frame comfort, accurate vision correction, and patient satisfaction.”
417 Eyewear is available exclusively at Vision Solutions, 121 West Broadway Street, Webb City. For more information, visit myvisionsolutions.com or call (417) 250-2828.
