Matt McGown to read and sign his books Saturday

Somewhere In Time Bookshop is hosting a book reading and signing by Matt McGowan from 1 to 3 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 28.

Matt grew up in Webb City and attended the University of Missouri. Before becoming a writer at the University of Arkansas, he was a newspaper reporter.

His love for writing led to the creation of his published works, including “North Fork,” “1971,” and “Western Swing.”

Matt is an avid storyteller whose enthusiasm for his craft shines brightly in his work, engrossing your mind while trapping your heart inside his tale.

Somewhere In Time Bookshop is at 29 S. Main St., Webb City.

Eggs & Issues Legislative Forum set for March 27

The Webb City and Carl Junction chambers of commerce have announced that the 2026 Eggs and Issues Legislative Forum will be held March 27.

“This is your chance to engage directly with our state legislators and gain valuable insights into what to expect this session in Jefferson City,” says LeeAnn Crider, executive of the Webb City Area Chamber of Commerce.

Doors will open at 10:45 a.m. Friday, March 27, at OCH Nexus Event Center, 105 S. Main St., Webb City. $20 tickets include brunch. They can be purchased online from the Webb City chamber.

Learn to sell at farmers markets

If you have always wanted to sell produce and other goods at the local farmers market, but you didn’t know where to begin, University of Missouri Extension can help, says MU Extension horticulture specialist Matthew Huchteman.

MU Extension professionals and representatives from the Missouri Department of Agriculture will teach a five-part online series on “Selling at the Farmers Market” from noon to 1 p.m. for four days, March 9-13.

Topics include marketing, business planning, resources through MU Extension and the Missouri Department of Agriculture, and regulations for selling a variety of foods, including value-added and cottage foods. MU Extension specialists will also cover how farmers market vendors should handle sales tax. Participants will hear from farmers about their marketing strategies.

Missouri Sustainable Agriculture Research and Education help to sponsor this program.

Alpha Delta Kappa

Upsilon Chapter of Alpha Delta Chapter met at 6 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 17, at Julian’s Restaurant in Webb City. Hostesses were Brooke Shaver, Sarah Llanes, and Tina Wilson. Twelve members were present.

After dinner, Annette Elam Led the business meeting.

The altruistic project for February was a donation of children’s books by members for the Little Blue Book Shelf for United Way of Joplin.

The next meeting will be held at 6 p.m. Tuesday, March 17, at Central United Methodist Church in Webb City.The project for March will be making children’s blankets to be donated to a local charity.
