

Route 66 Theater will celebrate its 80th anniversary on Thursday, April 9, with a reception and classic double feature.
The reception and ribbon cutting will be held at 3 p.m.
“Cowboy Canteen” (1944), first of the two movies, will be shown at 4 p.m. “Wildfire” (1945) will follow at 7 p.m.
Tickets will be $5 for each show.
These two films were the first titles shown when the theater opened its doors in March of 1946, and their return to the big screen offers audiences a rare chance to step back in time and experience the magic of the theater’s earliest days.
As one of the few remaining historic theaters still operating in Missouri, Route 66 Theater continues to serve as a gathering place for families, film lovers and community members of all ages.
This anniversary celebration highlights not only the theater’s rich history but also the importance of supporting locally owned, family‑run cinemas that preserve the character and heritage of our communities.
Stevn Head, president of Great Wonders Productions, said the celebration is part of a broader effort to uplift and preserve historic theaters in the region.
The annual Webb City CARES Fun Walk is scheduled from 10 a.m. to noon Saturday, April 18, at the Cardinal Dome.
For an entry fee of $5 (cash or check) at the door, participants will receive a t-shirt, snack and drink (while supplies last).
Activities will include walking laps, inflatables, games and face painting. The concessions stand will be open.
Schools with the most participants will win cash prizes to spend on their students.
ADK Upsilon met at Central United Methodist Church in Webb City on March 17. Sarah Llanes led the meeting with 13 members present. Hostesses were Lizzy Dubois, Penny Hoenshell and Shelley Kneeland.
Members brought items for a family game night basket to be raffled off at the state convention In April.
Nominations for the 2026-2028 term were submitted. Members will vote at the next meeting.
Members are making blankets to be given to Children’s Haven and Washington Family Hope Center.
The next meeting will be held at Cathy Eichelberger’s home. We will have a visit from a Master Gardener. Hostesses will be Cathy Eichelberger, Annette Elam and Dyanne Dillion.
