Emmalee Bright is home from the six-day trip to Washington D.C. that she won for writing an essay about “Service.”
The Webb City High School JROTC cadet was accompanied by one of her instructors, 1st Sgt. Stephanie Attaway.
In addition to attending activities connected to the JROTC essay contest and leadership bowl, Bright and Attaway stayed busy as tourists. Attaway shared the trip by sharing many photos on the Cardinal Battalion Facebook page.
Bright’s essay, “Service is the Heart of Patriotism,” was published in the Sentinel as it progressed to national competition.
The annual essay contest is sponsored by the United States Army Cadet Command and the College Options Foundation.
