Webb City volleyball is now 2-1 as the team takes a road trip to Rogers Heritage Thursday and enters the Hillcrest tournament on Saturday.
The Cardinals at home on Tuesday won in straight sets against El Dorado Springs (25-4, 25-8, 25-12).
Aubree Lassiter dominated the net with 13 kills. Also with multiple kills were Savannah Crane, 8; Jaeli Rutledge, 6; and Kirra Long, 5.
Sophia Crane had 36 digs.
Webb City had a big 6-run third inning Tuesday, highlighted by Karsyn Cahoon’s two-out grand slam, to take the lead from Carl Junction.
The visiting Bulldogs had scored 3 runs in both the first and second innings to lead Webb City 6-4 through the top of the third inning.
Makenzie Wynn, on the mound for Webb City, held the Bulldogs to just 1 more run to finish the game at 10-7.
Cahoon also hit a double for two RBIs in the Cardinals’ 3-run second inning for a total of 6 RBIs in the game. Abby Sargeant had three hits. Getting two hits were Jensyn Pickett, Addison Brown and Riley Hanes.
The Cardinals continue conference play at home Thursday against Willard. On Saturday, they’ll play a double-header at Joplin. Their game against the host Eagles will be at 11 a.m., followed by a game with Pryor, Okla., at 1 p.m.
The Cardinals (7-2) improved their record with four wins at last weekend’s Joplin tournament. They defeated Seneca (14-3), Carthage (10-2), Neosho (9-6) and Park Hill South (11-8). Their only loss was to Blue Springs (9-5). They’ll be back at home Tuesday against Carthage and then at Nixa Thursday.
